Closet Doors

Most of us take closet doors for granted. We use our closets every day and don’t give the door much thought. However, a lot of thought and planning went into choosing which type of door your closet has. Each type of closet door has a specific purpose and is used for different reasons.

Types Of Doors
There are several different types of closet doors to choose from. Sliding closet doors work well in an environment where space is an issue. In certain rooms, putting a closet door or even a bifold door is out of the question due to space considerations.

Bifold closet doors are another option. These tend to fold out like an accordion. They are easy to use and work well in larger closets. A sliding closet door is used in a similar situation, however a bifold door requires more space.

There are also mirrored closet doors. You can get sliding mirror closet doors or mirror closet doors where the door itself is actually a mirror. Doors with mirrors can either slide or would be a regular hinge door style.

Another option is to get custom closet doors made. These are ideal if you have a certain material in mind, or if the door needs to serve a specialized purpose.

Installing The Doors
There are some things to keep in mind when installing these doors. Folding closet doors, for example, may require different hardware than another type of door. To find sliding closet door hardware, you will need to make sure you get what you need at the place where you buy the hardware. You can also purchase other closet door hardware at the hardware store or home store. It is also possible to find closet sliding door hangers.

When making the install, make sure the closet is the right size. For example, if you need 8” closet doors but end up purchasing 6” doors, you will need to return them. This can be avoided by measuring them in the first place.

If you are having trouble doing the install yourself, you may want to ask for help. If you know people, you can ask them. Otherwise, you will need to hire a contractor.

To find a reliable contractor you may need to do some digging. Ask others which contractors they trust, or you can hire one through the store where you purchased the doors.
